Don't tend to use these much so it's unlikely to change much.
With an AGP 8x slot

I have a simple question I’d like to ask regarding the required graphics card. My system is fairly old now by most standards and has an AGP port rather than PCI-E; so I’d like to know what cards I’d be best looking at so I can play Demigod, everything checks out fine other than the gfx card, having always gone with NVidia cards I know very little about the ATI ones. I’ve been looking for a 7900 GS so far but they’re fairly few and far between so would like to ask about the ATI range. I’ve spotted a couple but because the naming standard seems to be different I’m not sure what to look for, hence why I’m asking here, there are a few sapphire cards I’ve found and would like to know if they meet the spec or not;

Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 512MB
Sapphire HD 3650 512MB
Sapphire RADEON X1650

These are the main ones I can find easily from retailers in the UK, so I’d like to know which ones are capable of running Demigod well. If anyone's aware of another AGP card that's available easily (preferably new) please post a link to the website with details.

Thanks in advance…

Well, if those are the only choices, then I would go for the 3850. 3650 will suffice too, the x1650 will be slow.

Spooky's right, the x1650 is way too close to the minimum requirement.  I've beening running a 3650 in one of my test boxes, and it handles Demigod quite well.  Depending on the price difference, I'd go with the 3850...  I just always like the most powerful option(within a reasonable price).

If you want to enjoy modern PC games you should really start looking at upgrading to a new pc with a dual core cpu and a pci-express video card as the absolute minimum.

Indeed, it's really not advisable to put more money into upgrading an AGP-based machine if you can at all help it; it's a dead-end path and those new parts won't be usable in a new machine if you find yourself in the same situation again in the near future (which is likely).

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to go to the i7 cpu etc. when I can afford to, which is why I asked about the card here so I can play online etc. while I'm saving for the new spec. And I'm the same, go for the best you can afford and if that's still not that great then get something you can make do with until you can get what you really want.

Heh, the computer I was using before I built my new quadcore box was running an Athlon XP 3200+ and Radeon 9550

Hehe, I've had to neglect my computer for a while now because of buying a house a few years back, but I'm hoping to be able to get a new generation all singing all dancing system in a couple of years time. I was interested in the Alienware range, but now that Dell has taken over I don't know whether it's had any effect on their systems (better or worse? Considering the guys there were pretty clued up prior to the Dell take over, I can only hope that's still the case).

That was the reason for my lack of computer upgrades for quite a while too.

I really wouldn't reccomend alienware. They're nice computers and they know what there doing, but your paying alot of extra money for the name. You should just build your own. It'll save you tons.
